Tarte TEN Natural Cheek Stain Review

As I'm getting older I found myself interested in cream product more. I have dry skin and powder just don't sit on my face nicely and I really don't like the powdery look. I ventured out to try more cream blushes awhile ago and found a few products that I'm pretty impressed about. They give me this dewy and more youthful look that I'm looking for.

I've heard people talked about Tarte cheek stains and saw this at Sephora the other day - Tarte TEN Natural Cheek Stain. It was a limited edition item and the package is different from their regular cheek stain, kinda glamorous and cute. For $30 I thought it's a bit pricey but it's such a soft nuetral baby pink and I just can't say no to it :p I've never tried Tarte's products before but do know that the brand always use natural ingredient claiming to be good for your skin. Here is what they said on the Sephora Website -

"This best seller is all new in a limited-edition sleek, gold-studded tube in Tarte's signature dark purple and limited-edition shimmering bright pink shade to invigorate all complexions. Powered by the T5 Super Fruit Complex™, this nutrient-rich natural cheek stain fights free radical damage while treating skin with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals."

And they claim that the product formulated without Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates.

It looks like a soft baby pink and goes on to the skin very sheer, I don't have to worry about over doing it. It's not sticky, easy to blend and I can build up the color easily. I just use my finger gently tap it on to my cheeks so it won't mess up the already applied foundation and concealer. I do like that it is easy to use and how dewy it makes my skin looks, but I found that as it goes on to my cheeks, it turns warmer and more peachy color than how it looks in the container, the neutral baby pink.

Over all I do recommend the product coz the application and how natural looking it is, just wish that the color doesn't turn warmer when it's on the skin. I will be checking out more colors on their regular line since I do like the quality of the product. Do you like creamy blushes? Anything worth trying?

My Small Etude House Lippie collection LOVE

I've been loving these lippes from Etude House lately. I actually have them for awhile just never got a chance to do a review. Etude House is Korean brand that is known for their cute package, good quality and affordable price. The lipsticks I got are from their VIP girl collection. The VIP girl lipsticks are around for awhile, they're all very bright, creamy and pigmented. I ordered mine from ebay since there is no store around me sell Etude House products.

I ordered my first one from an Ebay seller for $10 including shipping (from Korea), not too bad. Guess which is the first one I got? Yes, PK007, the nudest baby pink one, since it's my favorite type of color I thought it won't go wrong. After I received my first one, I was so impressed with the color, I went ahead and ordered 2 more colors.

These lipsticks are so creamy (remind me of MAC Cremesheen) and don't feel heavy on the lips which is a big plus for me! The staying power is good enough and they have this fruit scent that smell so yummy and not over powering. The color selections are kinda limited, around 7-8 shades as I remember... they are all very bright and candy like colors.

OR206 is bright coral pink, PKoo6 is bright hot pink, and PK007 is bright baby pink. I like PK007 the most and it is a really nude color. I think it has similar effect as YSL Rouge Volupte #7 Lingerie Pink. So if you like the YSL you will probably love this one. I will say it is right between YSL Lingerie Pink and MAC GaGa lipstick?

Etude House Peach Water Gloss in Peach Milk and Strawberry Milk (left to right)

I also ordered these lip glosses from the same seller. They are Etude House Peach Water Gloss, around $8 each (including shipping). I got the Peach Milk and Strawberry Milk. The Strawberry Milk is blue tone pink with shimmer and the Peach Milk is peachy pink color and no shimmer. Just like the name, they smell like peach and the consistency is not too thick, not sticky at all. They are kinda sheer but do show up on my lips. I like to layer them on top of the VIP lipsticks or just any pink lipsticks. They are comfortable on the lips and taste so good. I do like them alot.

Over all I'm pretty impressed with these lippies. I was never a big fan of Asian drugstore cosmetics but now I want to try more coz I like these babies so much! Have you every tried any Etude House products or any of the Korean cosmetics? What's your favorite?

Stila Trendsetting in Tokyo Travel Palette Review/FOTD

I was never a big fan of Stila and only own couple of their shadows before. Even tho I really like the concept of lip and cheeks convertible colors, I've never found a color I really love. I saw couple peoples reviews about these travel palettes and I was totally attracted by the convertible color(Sakura) in this pallet and decided to track it down. It's such a neutral baby pink that is not too cool or warm, I can see it works so well on my cheeks and lips.

Since I have no access to Ulta and I did not want to pay expensive shipping for this pallet on Stila.com, I pick this up at Urban Outfitter for $10, such a great buy for a Stila palette. It contains 4 eyeshadows and 1 convertible color.

I'd used it for a few times ever since I got it. What do I think? We all know that Stila's shadows are famous for their soft, buttery texture and vibrant color, but for these shadows, they are really not that great. They're like drugstore eyeshadows I have to say... they're not as pigmented as their regular line, and feel kinda chalky. My favorite color will be Sake, the light beige one, it has gold sheen and actually looks pretty when I pile it on.

The convertible color Sakura..... was a totally different story. I'm in LOVE with this color. It's such a lovely color which doesn't turn red on my cheek(most baby pink blushes do). The texture is so creamy and easy to blend, and I really really like it on my lips (more than cheeks)!

I hope that Stila will consider making this convertible color a permanent item, I will totally buy it over and over again even it is $25 (regular price). But $10 for this palette? it is a steal IMO just for the convertible color alone. I can be careless about the shadows, actually I might just cut it in half so the powders not gonna get into the blush cream. It always gets messy when they do the palette like this, not a very good idea...

Foundation Routine - Missha Perfect Cover BB is LOVE

Missha Perfect Cover BB cream (NO.23), my new love!

I was kinda skeptical at first coz some of the BB creams make me look ashy and most of the BB creams in the market are for around NC30 or paler(I'm right around NC30-35). Since I became paler during the winter I decided to give BB a try. I was originally drawn to the Missha Perfect Cover BB cream because of its high SPF(SPF 42), I love that it is a multipurpose product, sun scream, anti aging cream, foundation and concealer... all in one, how great is that :) Here is the description on the tube -

Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream actually come with 3 shades (#21 Light Beige, #23 Natural Beige and #31 Golden Beige) and #23 suits me the best. The consistency is very creamy, gives a light to medium coverage and very buildable. It is definitely heavier than tinted moisturizer but not as heavy as medium coverage foundation. It smells nice and feels very moisturizing. The color goes on a bit lighter at first but since it is self adjust to suit your skin tone, it blends in in like 5 mins. The finish is semi matte and the coverage is very buildable. Some days I use it alone for a quick coverage but most of the time I like to use my Sephora #55 Airbrush, mix 2 pumps of BB cream and a bit MAC Strobe cream, it gives me a natural, dewy look that I really like. After that I will dab some more BB cream on my under eye and the sun spots on my cheek bones and it covers quite well as concealer.

The most impressive thing is, I've been using it for couple of months now and I actually see the sun spots on my cheek bones faded quite a bit. This product does work!

I really love this product. I'd almost finished my first tube (already have a brand new one stand by) that's how much I love it :)

Using alone for more matte look or mixing with strobe cream for the dewy look.

Sephora Pink Ballerina Lip Gloss

I've been in love with these glosses lately -- Sephora Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss. I got a mini set from Sephora birthday gift a while ago, didn't think I would like them since I wasn't impressed with Sephora brand before. I decided to try them one day and can't stop wearing them since! After wearing MAC for so long and so used to their sticky glosses, these feel so fresh on. They're not sticky at all and taste like cherry candy.

Because they are not sticky, the staying power is not as good as mac or other stickier glosses but they're not too bad compare to the drugstore ones. I don't mind to reapply more frequent since they feel so comfortable on, plus, I think they really moisturize my lips.

Since I like the mini set so much. I pick up a full size one in Pink Ballerina. It's a very light baby pink. no shimmer. It goes well with all the baby pink lippies I have :)

I found myself leaning toward to cheaper brands when come to lip glosses, NYX mega shine, BBW's and now the Sephora ones...

Hello everyone~ sorry for been MIA for awhile, I've been so overwhelmed with work and family... and haven't been feeling too excited about makeup. I did manage to do some damage at Saks and Sephora F&F, I didn't need anything just didn't wanna miss the annual sale... lol. I pick up some YSL lipsticks, a sephora airbrush and NARS new foundation, maybe I will do a post on my next post.

I've been doing neutral look everyday, even on the weekend. I'm really loving this NARS Pleasure of Paris palette, nothing exciting it's just very very easy to use. I can make good use of every single color in it, the kind of palette that really get your money worth :)

- Nepal inner corner
- Abyssinia brow bone
- Cordura outer v

On my lips I have infamous Kim Kardashian's favorite lip combo -
MAC Angel + NARS Turkish Delight
(I haven't touched them both for really long time...)

I found myself ignore my NARS duo eyeshadows for long time because of their packing. I have to go through all of them to pick the names then open each of them if I want to mix and match the colors... I love NARS sophisticated black rubber case but it's preventing me from using them now :( Do you guys have the same trouble? I found myself stick with MAC shadows most of the time when I'm hurry in the morning.

It's a pain to go through them every time...

NARS Cream Shadow/Drugstore Haul and FOTD

I'm a fan of NARS but never tried their cream shadows. I've heard some people hate it coz they crease real bad even with primer underneath. Since I love most of NARS stuff and the color is gorgeous, I decided to pick it up anyway to see if it will work for me.

Madagascar cream shadow

One side is peachy skin color that works great as all over base(similar to MAC Painterly PP) and the other side is a purplish brown taupe that works well with NARS eyeshadows like Ondine, Ashes to Ashes, Cairo or MAC Satin Taupe, Style Snob... If you are a fan of those taupey colors then you will love this duo.

I'd tried it a few times, it does crease but not terribly(depends on what you put on top and underneath). The shimmery taupe color crease more than the skin color on the left. If I put TFSI underneath first and put NARS/MAC shadows on top, they will last for about 4 hours before start creasing. I did try it once with drugstore shadows and it was a complete disaster.

I think this will be my one and the only NARS cream shadow... I decided to keep it coz the colors work really well with my collection and I just can't say no to taupe... haha. But seriously, MAC Paint Pots work so much better than these on any day!

I also pick up Night Breed single eyeshadow that I've been meaning to get for long time. Just a pure black with silver glitters. The pigmentation is really good and can be used wet or dry. I like how versatile it is and I can just bring it everywhere use it as shadow and liner.

I also pick up a bunch of Maybelline at Rite Aid since they had BOGO. I got a back up of Lash Stiletto(My fave mascara of all time) and the Mineral power blush in Soft Mauve(this is love). Couple of shadow quads in Chai Latte and Velvet Crush, and the new color sensation lipsticks in Pink Please and Born with it.

I'm sorry to report that these shadows really have no pigmentation, you get what you pay for. But I do like the color combinations on the 2 quads I got. Velvet Crush is pretty, it looks gorgeous after I piled it on like 5 layers :)

The Mineral power blush is a different story. It lasts on my face whole day and the color is gorgeous. Soft Mauve looks like baby pink on my skin tone. Loooove :)

The lipsticks are ok. Born with it and Pink Please are basically the same colors, one with shimmer one without. They are the nudest baby pinks in the collection but not nude enough for me... they are creamy and pigmented tho.

VS Christian Siriano Silky Eyeshadow Sahara

So you all know I've been in love with VS makeup lately. After the Christian Siriano Kajal liner experience, I went to check out more of his stuff and found this amazing eyeshadow Sahara.

He came out with 5 limited edition eyeshadows with mostly neutral colors. The idea of his makeup line is Egyptian inspired and the compact sort of reminds me of pyramid. It comes with a small mirror inside and I think the packaging is just gorgeous. Of course for the $12 the material is not real metal but it is still a nice design.

VS Christian Siriano Silky Eye Shadow - Sahara

The texture of all his shadows are silky and soft(not as soft and wet as VS regular shadows) and very pigmented. Sahara is a neutral light champagne color with peachy tone, a bit shimmery but not over the top. It's very similar to MAC Grand Entrance and Stila Kitten. I own Kitten but don't use it much coz I found the color too frosty on my NC35 skin. On the other hand, Sahara is almost the same color with less frost and a tad warmer, works wonderfully as all over the lid or highlight on my skin tone!

Sahara all over the lids with MAC Antiqued at the outer corners and Blacktrack...voila! My perfect everyday look for work. I enjoy this shadow very much... plus it's kinda fun to play with the compact in my hand :)

Lunch time swatches - Style Black

Today during the lunch time, I went to the MAC store near job to see if they have the Style Black collection out already since they usually have the collection out early. I asked the MA and he told me it's out on Thursday but will let me take a peek. I looked at everything there, did some swatches on my hand, mainly on the items that I'm interested in.

This collection will def be loved by people who like dramatic looks. Some of the products are really amazing and have great color payoff, just in time for Halloween makeup.

I'm impressed with the Mineralized eye shadows, very pigmented and soft. They are basically all black base with blue, burgundy, silver and gold glitters. The glitters are very fine(unlike NARS night series) so it goes on really smooth. I have my eyes on the silver(Cinderfella) and the burgundy(Young Punk).

Personally I can't pull off the black lipstick but Black Knight is very creamy and pigmented, I can see it will be a popular item in the collection.

I was originally interested in the Greasepaint Stick the most. It reminds me of the more intense, creamy version of the shade stick. The color is super rich and supposed to be water/smudge proof. It can be used as liner or base. This is a true black, it's darker than Blackground p/p and Sharkskin shade stick (I have both and thinking about picking this one up).

I like both Mattene lipsticks, Midnight Media is a near-black, semi-matte creamy color. The color is even more intense than Black Knight. I personally like Night Violet, it's a very pretty burgundy.

All in all I'm in love with the Mineralized eye shadows in the collection, and will pick up a couple. Do you like this collection? What do you like?

Weekend Recap...

So last weekend I had a chance to help a friend with her fashion show at Brooklyn Fashion Festival. The designer Jade Chiu is a talented accessory designer and her pieces are inspired by Chinese 12 animal signs with western funkiness.

I was one of the makeup artist(there are 2 of us) and we came up with the look of dark brown/black smokey eyes for the dramatic effect. We had to do the makeup at the dim light environment and since we arrived late we had to rush back to back to finish all the models. It was a bit intense but I had great time doing it :) Here are a few dolls I'd worked on...

It was so rush I didn't get a chance to take close pictures for each model... next time I will have to snap some good shots no matter what ;)

Last weekend was all about Brooklyn. The next day, Me, hubby and Jacob went to Dim Sun for lunch in a famous restaurant in Brooklyn Chinatown (I was busy eating and forgot to take pics, haha...) After lunch we walked around the area and I found this tiny beauty shop inside of a small shopping center, here is what I found...

3 things I'm sad to hit pan on...

First of all, I want to thank all the new followers and wish y'all good luck with the contest ;)

It's just a random post today...

I've never try to do the Project 10 pans (or 5 pans) coz I know I will never succeed... haha. I don't do impulse buy but when there is something that I really want, I can't wait.

I usually feel happy and sense of achievement when I hit pan on makeup items, like eyeshadows and blushes. I recently hit pan on some stuff I actually feel sad about ... mainly coz they are good products, fairly pricey, and they work for me.

I'm actually already on my second Laguna, so that one doesn't count, just wanna show you all how big a pan I hit... lol ;)

On the other hand, a product I probably will never hit pan on...

I thought I like it when I first tried it in the store, but after bought it I'm just not too crazy about the smell. I use it very slowly, the only thing that keep me reaching for it is the SPF23, on those days when I need a little sun protection without whole face makeup.

Update and NARS/VS Haul

Yay! finally my jewelry blog is up and running. Check it out ^_^

Hope everyone is having a great holiday so far. I just came back from a week vacation with hubby and I'm just happy that we still have few days to relax before returning back to work :) We went on a road trip to VA and DC, stopped by Atlantic City for some beach time and roller coasters at Great Adventure in NJ. We had tons of fun :)

I got a package after coming back from the trip. The NARS Pleasures of Paris palette that I ordered from Saks before went on my trip. Yay! I can't wait to play with this palette. I have many of NARS duos and don't have any of the color in this palette besides Cordura on the lower right corner(well, it's a useful color, guess I can live with that, haha). This palette is so neutral and all colors compliment each other very well.

I also pick up some goodies form Victoria Secrets. I do like VS makeup, some of their eyeshadows and lippes are nice and pigmented. They had revamped their line recently and here are what I got:

I pick up the PRO Voluptuous FX Mascara which works surprisingly good. It's pretty much like L'Oreal Voluptuous, the lash stay soft and not clumping. I also pick up their new Silky Eyeshadow in Between the sheets... love the name :) The shadow is very soft, it's almost like cream to powder kind of texture, very pigmented. This color reminds me a bit of MAC Mulch.

The thing I feel the most excited about is the Christian Siriano Kajal Eye Liner. This guy is so "fierce" and fashion forward, and the makeup is not disappointing. The liner is inspired by ancient Egyptian beauty, supposed to give a smudged, smoky effect. I tried it today, the color is very rich and last all day. Thumbs up!

Collective Jewelry Haul

I found some cute jewelry from sample sale last week and would like to share with you all :D They are from a company that make jewelry for brand names from Marc Jacobs, J-Crew, Banana Republic to JC penny... there are mountain of jewelry to choose from and I only got these pieces... lol... I like simple things that stand out by itself and I had so much fun digging into the bins and pick these babies out :)

Camera Time... FOTD (new goodies from Starflash)

I was playing with the few things that I got from MAC new Starflash today and I want to show you some FOTD (haven't done that in awhile). My skin is acting up lately so I feel a bit self conscious, haha... I feel like it is time to fresh up my skin care routine(my wallet's gonna hurt), coz the sun really dry out my skin badly, and I want a real effective anti aging serum! Please do recommend if you know something that's worth trying out :)

I really like the Starflash eyeshadows in this round. I thought I was done with MAC eyeshadows but not for these babies. I've been using Smoke & Diamond alot for work, the color is just gorgeous! and today i finally tried Strike a Pose, a very unique dark teal color that took me awhile to find(sold out! sold out!).

I really like those pearlglide eye liners too, they are so creamy and sparkling. I got Fly by Blue, a mysterious dark blue with lots of glitters, pure love! You guys remember Wolf? A dark gray gun metal color that came in the first round pearlglide liners last year, MAC didn't repromote it in this round :( I really want to get my hands on it, how can MAC forgot an eyeliner got such a sexy name with such a gorgeous color...

My Purse Collection (Most Used & Favorites)

I've been meaning to do this post for awhile but so lazy to take all the bags out and take pics... me such a lazy blogger lol... since I just recently moved to a new home, I finally got a chance to take some pix before I organize them in my closet.

Living in NY with limited space, I had sold some and gave some away from time to time... I try to only keep the ones I absolutely love, but you know... it's just too hard for a woman with bag fetish like me, haha...

I'm a big fan of Louis Vuitton(who isn't) and Italian leather, here are some of my most frequent used and favorite ones --

LV Damier Saleya MM - My carry all work bag. Papers, lunch and occasionally shopping bags all go into it :) I initially got a GM and thought I will use it as diaper bag or when I go to the gym... ended up I exchanged it for a MM coz GM was just too humongous to carry around. I'm so glad I got this one instead coz it's a perfect size for work :)

LV Mono Speedy 30 - My first designer bag(Speedy seems to be lots of girls first designer bag for some reason :)), I had it for about 9 years, bought it with my first month salary of my first career in my life, it went through life's ups and downs with me... remember the time when I ate ramen noodles everyday and lived in the basement apt... and once I almost sold it coz financial trouble, lol... after all these years she still here with me! A bag that can tell my naive little life stories I guess :)

I don't use it as much as before coz now with a baby, a bag that can go over the shoulder seems more convenient... hubby knew I treasure this bag, he bought me a bag chain to decorate it. It's like an old lady with new bling... still gorgeous isn't it ? :D

LV Tivoli GM - Just got it recently from hubby for our anniversary. I heart it :D haven't carry it out under the sun yet. It definitely has a feeling of carry a Speedy, but it also works as a shoulder bag, just exactly what I need. YAY!!!

Tod's Large Satchel - It was love at the first sight, simple, classic and roomy... and the leather was just sooooooo nice :)

Satchel from B. Makowsky - I carry it for grocery...baby's doctor app... my worry free carry around bag. Love that it has a long strap so I can wear it crossbody when I need it.

No. It is not from Chloe :) It's from a local designer brand from Brooklyn called Sabina. Their style is kinnda fashionable and funky(Urban Outfitter sometimes carries them). I didn't know the original style was from Chloe before I purchased it haha.... It's a bit on the heavy side but I love the style :)

Satchel from Saks - It also has strap that can go over the shoulder. The more I wear it the better it looks.

Can you tell all my bags are similar... I luv floppy bags :D

A bag also from long time ago... I love the ruffles on this Italian suede satchel, from Inge.

Another suede shoulder bag with animal print... adds hippie flavor on the casual day.

Taupes Comparison (MAC, NARS)

I pick up Style Snob from the new Starflash collection the other day and I immediately thought about my other taupey babies in the family so I wanted to do a comparison :) I'm always a big fan of taupey colors and my all time fave is the infamous MAC Satin Taupe. A metal, brownish taupe that MAC has it in every holiday smoky eye palette(I happened to have 3).

NARS single eye shadow Ashes to Ashes is a close dupe for Satin Taupe, just a bit less pigmented and a little less brown. One of my favorite NARS eye shadow.

NARS Cairo is a lighter and warmer taupe that can work as highlighter on darker skin tone. It's hard to describe this color... I use it all over the lid for a casual day.

MAC Style Snob looks similar to Satin Taupe from outside but definitely has more purple and pink when swatch on skin. I was immediately drawn to this color when I saw the collection. Haven't tried it on my eyes but I know it's gonna be gorgeous!

There are some other taupes in my collection, like MAC Sweet Sienna pigment(similar to Satin Taupe), MAC Family Silver(taupey silver), and MAC Shale(taupey purple) are also my favorites :)

I'd only used this bag 1x before and it has been sitting in my handbag hall of fame (I have too many bags) haha... this bag is practically new. My Favorite Nude Lips (MAC, NARS, YSL)

Here are few of my fave lipsticks that I use on daily basis. I didn't put any of my fave MAC LE lipsticks here coz I haven't feel like using them much since they are hard to find (like 3N & St. Germain). All my favorites are in nude and baby pink family. I'm a big fan of pale lips and MAC has large selection of those and they are not overly pricey.

I have pigmented lips and tend to go for the finishes that have more coverage and none drying. MAC Creamsheen and Amplified are my favorite finishes, they're very moisturizing and give the most coverage (I do like Lustre but wish it has more coverage). Angel(frost) and Hue(glaze) are nice coz they are not as dry as other frost and glaze ones, and the prettiest baby pinks compliment almost all skin tones.

Blankety was my first nude lipstick since long time ago and I'm still loving it these days. I found it a little similar to Creme d'nude on my lips, just a tad more brown.

Angel and Cream Cup are almost the same. Angel is very smooth and not drying compare with other frost finishes. They are more pink compare with the rest but still lighter than my own lips.

Hue is a sexy color and it will be a 10 if it's not a Glaze. I do need to scrub my lips really well before I put this on. It's so preeeety on smooth and pouty lips. I'm hoping to find something that has exact color but in different finish...

I'm also a big fan of NARS Chelsea girls lip lacquer. The color is almost identical to YSL Rouge Volupte #2 Sensual Silk. They are pinky beige, not as beige as Creme d'nude and not as pink as Angel. They are the perfect nude lips for me and they both give really good coverage. YSL has weak staying power but it has yummy melon taste and it's a pleasure to apply! These 2 are my perfect nudes (how many time I'm saying this, haha). I will always stick with them if I don't have so many MACs waiting for me to use :)

So this is it! my favorite nude lips... they are pretty much the same colors but I still want more! If you know something that's worth trying, do let me know ;)

The Body Shop body butter pickups

I pick up 2 body butters at The Body Shop last week. As now they have 2 for $30 for all body butters promotion. So go pick them up while you can, only twice a year the sales girl said.

I love their body butters in general. I have dry skin all year round and these babies work the best. My all time favorite scents are Shea butter and Coconut.

Their shea butter has this really clean light scent that I never get tired of, and the coconut is the most natural and yummy coconut I've ever smell, not overly sweet and milky at all.

I use perfume on daily basis and these body butters works well with most of my perfumes. The Shea butter smells clean and the scent goes away pretty quickly. The coconut one works well with my summer perfumes, smells divine with the ones that has coconut and tropical fruit notes. After trying so many different body moisturizers, I keep going back for these. They are definitely my HG!

I also pick up a lip butter... I saw lollipop26 talked about it in her video so decided to check it out. It's not a very thick lip balm but it's moisturizing enough. It's dragon fruit flavor I believe and it tastes so yummy! I don't really use it underneath lipsticks as it is a bit runny.

I might take advantage of the sale and pick up a few more body butters :) Do you like them? What's your favorite?

So far I didn't get any from the Color Craft collection(thinking about Color Craft Lipstick tho). Haha! Go me :) Guess I'm over MSFs... move over MSFs, give me some NARS Lolita collection (must check out the new ES duos, they are TO DIE FOR!)

What did you guys get from the Sumo sale?

I got a few things that I know I will definitely use. Here are the list--

* Cremesheen LS in Creme cup (one last nude that I need in my collections)
* Dazzleglass in Baby sparks (it's too sticky for me but I gave in coz it's too pretty)
* Eye shadows in Idle Eyes and Handwritten (Idle Eyes.. people either love it or hate it. Me looooove it! Great for night look!!)
* Pigments in Tan and Naked (I still have my sample size left but I know I will use them for the rest of my life)
* Cream Color Base in Hush
* 188 stippling brush

I also venture out and got some Stila products (Thanks to their 40% pro artist sale). The infamous Stila Kitten is over rated imo. The texture is silky but I actually enjoy the variety of texture that MAC es provide (am I the only one who love lustre?)

And I really enjoy Stila's Convertible Colors. I got them in Lilium and Gladiola. The colors are gorgeous and I like them better than MAC cream blushes and cream color bases, and they are not drying when use them as lip colors. I also like their Kajal liner in Topaz, the beige color that really makes my eyes pop.

Florabundance is new love

I am all about nude lips and here is my latest found that I think it's worth mentioning -- MAC Florabundance Lipglass!

Since I already have full drawer of beige/pinkish nude products, I was searching for a more peachy nude lips for summer, something warmer for my summer tan skin.

I saw this one on the site and remember seeing a girl talking about it on Youtube so I decided to give it a try. Unlike other MAC cult fave nude lipglasses like C-thru, Underage and Oyster Girl... Florabundance is a much neglected and underrated product that I feel it should deserve more love. I don't remember how they describe it on MAC website, if Underage is milky baby pink, then Florabundance will be milky baby peach. It's very opaque and glossy.

And I have to say it does go on more even and smoother than C-thru and Underage. If you are like me love the opaque nude lipglasses but can't work with C-thru and Underage, definitely try this one.

Drugstore glow... LOVE!!!

Some glowing goodness that I found at drugstore -- Prestige Skin Loving Minerals bronzer in Glam Tan and Tokyo Rose lipstick.

Since I've been wanting to try a new bronzer, I came across to this baby - the infamous MAC MSF dupe. I've heard some good things about it and man...... I was surprised how pretty it is, I absolutely love it!

It gives the prettiest golden sheen, not as orangy as Warm MSF and not as rosy as So Ceylon, just the perfect gold. It is actually softer than MSF and very easy to apply. Maybe the staying power is not as good as MSF, but hey it is drugstore makeup, for the price and the prettiest sheen, i don't mind to reapply during the day :)

The Tokyo Rose LS is ok. It's frost finish and just give your lips a "I just came back from the beach" look. Not that special, I probably have many of the same things in my drawer already. But if you don't have something like this already, it is very pretty for a bronzy summer look!

Early Mother's Day Gift & Accessories Haul

Couple weeks ago it was suddenly turning hot in NY during the weekend, so hubby decided to drive me and Jacob to Woodbury Outlet in upsate NY just to walk around and enjoy the weather. As always I found something there that I can't resist, of course. Who can just walk around without getting anything at Woodbury ? Nobody! If you've ever been there you know what I am talking about (excuses... excuses :D)

So I was browsing at Tod's and found this bag that I absolutely LOVE. It's a tote and it's leather in my favorite color and it's Tod's, it's light and it has my name written all over it! I never plan to buy another bag since we were just out of the house to enjoy the sun... when I was debating and couldn't drag my ass out of the store, hubby grabbed the bag and told me it's going to be an early mother's day gift and got it for me. Yay!!! I was super excited. Thank you babe for the surprise :D

A bag just like any of my other bags(that's what hubby discribed). Yeah! My die-hard love for tote and new stinky leather smell. Wahahaha :))))

Later on that day, I got this necklace at Juicy. I've always found Juicy a little too bling before, but I really like this one. It's actually really tiny, about the size of my pinkie.

More accessories that i got this week from Laila Rowe. They have big variety of jewry in all colors and I found these 2 pieces at the same grey/black/silver section. I'm really drown to the bracelet that has big flower on it and a big grey flower is hard to find :) I think it will give a cool look when pair with a simple dress. Also a long necklace with black pearl inside the carved heart will go nicely with just some plain Ts and tank tops.

• What is your current obsession?
hmm... I've been really obsessed about finding a perfect bronzer lately. I just tried Smashbox Suntan matte and decided it is not my favorite. I'm sticking with my Laguna for now and just ordered another one. I'm open to find a new bronzer that gives me the perfect glow this summer.

• What is your weirdest obsession?
I'm obsessed with the yogurt ice cream from Red Mango and need to have it everyday with one crunchy and one fruit toppings...ok, it is not weird at all... makeup wise I'm into all shades of browns, bronzes and purples... ok, not weird.

• What are you wearing today?
Jeans, tank top and off the shoulder thin sweater, red high top converse.

• What’s for dinner today?
Maybe spaghetti with Japanese cod roe paste(my favorite) and maybe spaghetti with meat sauce for hubby, he doesn't like fishy taste.

If I can play hooky from work and go to the movie with hubby during the day... that will be awesome.

I want to learn to dance hip hop really well. I'd tried it in the past apparently I need more arms & legs coordination. but, I would really like to learn to dance like America's Best Dance Crew :)

Friday Look and Rambling

A simple look on Friday. I Finally put on some liquid foundation today and some colors on my lids... I haven't been doing much makeup when I was on my trip in Taiwan, the weather was so humid and makes me feel sticky all the time, not very comfortable. But my skin didn't feel as dry and my fine lines disappeared! No wonder girls in Asia looks so young, part of it is the moisture in the air, plus the food of course... in terms of food... I'd gained a few lbs from all the delicious specialty food in Taiwan, ugh! That's the result of being away from home for too long, I ate everything that I'd missed in the past 2 years. When we visited my home town in Tainan, I put hubby on the back of my little scooter, riding around the city, stopping at all the familiar food stands and ate the hell out of it... hahaha :D

I brought back a pair of Taiwanese brand circle lenses. Love the look but just like my past experiences, my eyes got tired easily and turn red in about 4 hours... do you all like the lenses sold on the blogs? I hate waiting for the shipping but really tempting to try some.

BTW, Maybelline Lash Stiletto is amazing, it lengthen very well and able to build volume without looking like spider legs, thumbs up :D

Hello everyone!!! it's been so long! I was on vacation in Taiwan for a week and a half and I had so much fun! It was so humid there I didn't feel like doing much makeup at all but since I was in Taiwan I had to do some hauling :) I thought I would damage alot since it was the Mother's day promotion time during my stay, but surprisingly I didn't get anything at the department store cosmetic counters. I wasn't impressed with most of the skin care sets, although there are some good deals but I don't like the idea of been forced to get the things I don't need in the sets, I'm a very rational shopper :)

I did get some drug store items, some Asian brand mascaras that I've been wanting to try and the refills of my favorite makeup remover in much cheaper price.

The infamous Mojolica Mojolica mascara base and mascara III edition. People raved about their mascara all the time so I have to try it. I also got the Asia exclusive Revlon One Stroke Colorstay eye liner. It's water proof and it seems to be creamier and more black than the regular Colorstay eye pencil.

KOSE Softymo Deep Cleansing Oil refills. My favorite makeup remover. I did a review before. It was so cheap in Taiwan for about $5 a pack and I am so glad they sell the refills so I didn't have to carry all those bottles back to US :)

I've been using Kiehl's Ultra Facial Toner for a while. It's the most hydrated toner in their line. I found the Sana Soya Milk toner very similar to Kiehl's Ultra Facial Toner. They are both white and very similar in consistency, a little thick but not too thick, both are very hydrated and have very soothing smell. I'd used a few bottles of them and will continue using them. The Sana one is so much cheaper in Taiwan so I had to grab one :)

Couple things that I got before I went on my trip. My first YSL Rouge Volupte in #2 Sensual Silk. It's sooooo creamy and has this melon taste, soooooo yummy. #2 is a pinkish nude color(yup another pinkish nude) but the coverage is excellent, similar to NARS Chelsea Girls Lip Lacquer but much pleasant taste. Also since my Laguna is hitting pan, I decided to try a new bronzer -- Smashbox Bronze Lights in Suntan Matte. Kim Kardashian recommended this, and since I'm a big fan of her makeup I had to give it a try. It's matte and a little darker than NARS Laguna. So far I'm liking it.

NARS Ita Kabuki Brush & FOTD

Let me introduce the newest member in my brush family, the coolest Ita Kabuki brush from NARS :)

I've been wanting to get this brush for awhile and finally got it this week. I always wonder how the brush like this works and after seeing the demonstration on a NARS video and couple Youtubers talked about it I finally gave in. Here is the description from their site--

Modern concept and function unite with traditional Japanese culture, creating unique and versatile brush designs. Featuring super black goat hair known for its softness and strength, Kabuki Artisan brushes are designed for a variety of uses including color application, blending, contouring and highlighting.Super black goat hair in a small, flat, and angular design ideal for blending and contouring.

This brush is so soft and fluffy, easy to place the color and buff at the same time. I wasn't sure it will be user friendly since the handle is so different than the regular kabuki brush but after trying it for the first time, I was completely sold and become a big fan of their Kabuki Artisan series. I use it for contour and highlight, it goes right under the cheek bones and undereye and temple areas. I feel like I'm drawing Chinese calligraphy on the face every time I use it :) such a cool brush I have to say. I will recommend this to people who are serious about contouring and highlighting.

It comes in a pretty black box, so nicely packed.

Bags and Makeups Haul

Here are some new goodies that I got from past week I thought I will share :) You all know about the Gap friends and family sale that was happening not long ago.... I am not a big fan of Gap and Banana Republic but did manage to find myself something to buy at Piperlime.com. It's the first time I shop there and it's also the first time I bought a bag online. I usually don't like to buy bags without seeing it in person but thanks to their free return shipping policy, I decided to give it a try, plus 30% off is hard to resist :)

I was eyeing on a gray Furla bag at the beginning and within a blink it was gone. yeah, it was the last day of the sale and those babies gone fast. I finally settled on this one, a tan satchel from The Sak. This was very similar to Botkier Sasha that I had my eye on last year but didn't get. I've never had a bag from The Sak but I like the style alot. The leather is super soft and it is not too heavy(big plus). I got it for $150 after discount, good deal :)

I wish the handle is just plain looking one, but I think that's The Sak's signature. well, guess I can live with that.

It comes with removable shoulder strap, 1 bag 2 styles.

The fabric lining is kinnda cute...

I also pick up some shadesticks from MAC Sugarsweet collection. I was never a fan of shadesticks but those new ones are much more creamier than the old formula. And I was surprised that they last longer than paint pots! I initially only got Butternutty but I love it so much I went back and got more.

Another bag that I got from Forever21. I love the vintage style and the heart shape. So cute :)

New Hair & Love Rock Blush

Finally I got a chance to take some pix in the morning before I step out the door for work. Here I am with my new hair and wearing new favorite blush "Love Rock":) I think I look younger with bangs and as my co-worker said I look "happier"(what does that mean...) anyway what do you all think? I haven't have bangs like this for long time and so far I am liking it. Just need to get use to the hair on my face and my eyes(which is annoying sometime) but I will get use to it :)

It's uneven at front cuz I can't stop messing with it...

I got Love Rock mineralized blush duo the other day from MAC Grand Duo collection. A few of them are very pretty in the collection but I already had some bronzer type of shimmer MSFs that look so similar to them so I ended up pick up this bright pink one. I seldom use bright pink but this one is so gorgeous and easy to buff in, the texture is so soft and I can easily control the intensity. One side is solid shimmery bright pink and the other side is light lavender with gold shimmer, I put pink side on the apple of my cheeks and lighter side as high light on top of it. So far I really like it!

My MAC Must Haves

Long time no blog everyone! I've been so freaking busy at work lately, and finally got over the flu. I feel better now and just start putting on more makeup again :) btw I got new hair style. I have bangs now and I love it. It definitely makes me look younger... soon I will be showing it off in my FOTD :)

I thought I will finish this post that's been sitting in my folder for long time. My must have MAC items. In my opinion they are the stand out products from MAC, so if I can only grab a few MACs with me to the island these will be it. Here we go...

Blush brush #129 -- love love love this one. Don't believe they told you you can find a dupe from drug store... they all look the same but nothing compares to this baby.

Face brush #180 -- BIG & FIRM, it does the job fast and gives a great coverage.

Contour brush #109 -- My favorite foundation brush. It's basically a baby kabuki with long handle. Excellent for thicker liquid foundation.

Blending brush #222 -- I'd mentioned it in my previous post before. Good for placing color on crease and blending. Perfect size for Asian crease.

Blending brush #224 -- Blend, blend, blend... makes blending job super easy.

Angle brush #263 -- It's firm and ALWAYS creates sharp line.

1. HyperReal foundation -- I have dry skin and I love the dewy glowy finish it gives.

2. Lipstick (Creme d'nude) -- I should say all the nude lipsticks from MAC. I love their nude lips selections, especially Amplified creme and Creamsheen finished.

3. Studio finish concealer -- creamy, long lasting and high SPF(SPF35)

4. Fluidline (Blitz and Glitz) gel eyeliner -- Love this color, soft black with silvery glitter.

5. Paint Pot (Bare Study) -- I love this eye base more than UDPP or any other kind of eye base. It only last about 6-8 hrs on my lids before it start creasing but I love the texture and great color selections.

6. Mineralize Skinfinish Natural -- It gives enough coverage to use it alone or as finish powder. Its not cakey at all and it gives a subtle sheen. I also like the darker one with shimmer duo, great contour and highlight product.

7. Fix+ -- Smells good and refreshing makeup finish spray. No more powdery look.

8. My 15 neutral palette -- What can I say... my trust worthy everyday go to palette, some of my favorite colors are also in it. I may do a post of my favorite MAC ESs in the future :)

New NARS Goodies & FOTD

I went to Sephora to look at the NARS spring collection the other day since I had some gift money to spend. I'd seen all the pics online before and was eyeing on the ES duo Hula Hula... the color was so springing and cute, tan gold and pink, I was really in love with the pink but the color pay off on the gold side was a bit disappointing so I didn't get it in the end. Instead I brought home Habanera duo and Chelsea Girls lip lacquer.

New members in my NARS family :)))

I've been wanting to get Habanera(mint frost & smokey plum) for long time and finally got it! This is one of the weirdest but the prettiest combination duo from NARS. Just by looking at it the mint frost side was a bit out of my comfort zone but after putting it on I was actually quite happy with it. The smokey plum is so pretty... the mint frost and plum work surprisingly nice together. This is when NARS become the winner... he always come out such unexpected and beautiful combinations.

Chelsea Girls is the pinkish beige nude. I'd stopped buying lip lacquers for long time cuz it's so opaque like liquid lipstick and it requires precise application with brush, since I'm not a lip brush girl this is just not convenient enough for me. But Chelsea Girls is such a nude color and it's actually very easy to apply with finger. So so so glad I gave LL another try cuz I am in love with this thing... definitely one of my favorite nude lips!

Valentine & Jacob's Bday Party / Neutral FOTD

Valentines day was Jacob's 1st bday party. Little Jacob was still recovering from the stomach flu and was a bit overwhelmed by the crowd and excitement, and was crying a lot. We had Taiwanese-Japanese food and bubble tea at this Taiwanese cafe. We ate so much and Jacob got lots of gifts... at the end of the day he was so exhausted and just passed out in his car seat when we drove home. Over all we had great time! Here are some pics to share...

At the end of the day he was tired and cranky, and was so overwhelmed by everyone singing him happy birthday song and the lighted candle... poor baby :(

Me and hubby wore matching shirt cuz it was valentines day :) I didn't expect much since we're all busy on planning Jacob's Birthday. But he surprised me with a valentine bear, roses, a box of dark chocolate, a Louis Vuitton Trunks & Bags key holder and a bag charm, and a Sephora gift card on Friday night. I'm so thankful and loooooove everything he got me :)

On to the makeup... nothing really exciting. I did a super neutral look to go with my red plaid shirt for the party that day. I did a similar look this morning for work but with nude lips. Also I was testing my new Studio Sculpt Foundation this morning. I do like this gel like foundation alot, it's a bit thicker than my all time favorite MAC HyperReal. It's not as glowy as HR but still gives a dewy finish which I love!

Lippie Strayin' & Happy Valentine!

I was just talking about how to cut down buying makeups the other day and the day after I went to my MAC store and got something...whahahahahaha... well, if you have to have it, then you just have to have it........ like couple Hello Kitty lippies :P

I got another lipstick in Strayin' and a lipglass in "Nice Kitty". I'm not going to show the pics since they are everywhere on the beauty blogs. Strayin' is such a pretty bright pink color, I was worried it will be too similar to the "Hollywood Night" from Heatherette collection, which is super bright that I barely touch it. But Strayin' is a much tone down almost rosy kind of bright pink. It is easier to wear even a nude lip gal like me can't resist :)

Bright pink gave me the party mood :))) yay!!! I can't wait for Jacob's 1st birthday to come(Valentine's day). Me and hubby are goin to celebrate our own Valentine's day tonight, we'd decided our own V day will be on 2/13 forever so little Jacob has his own special day! How makeup addicts survive from the economy...

I'm sick at home from getting stomach virus :( I feel so weak, can't do much so just sitting around and blogging...

I thought I will share a few tips! Don't know if it will be helpful to others but it does help me a bit :)

So when the economy is so bad, how do you satisfy your makeup addiction?

- Swapping
- Organize and rediscover your stash
- Post pics of your stash
- Do an inventory of your stash
- Do FOTDs using your stash items
- Put all items in your stash into rotation so that you use a different one each day(that way you'll look different everyday and use your stash well)
- Write reviews for all the items you own
- List out when something really tempts you and looking for the dupes in your stash

I start to love the feeling of OWNING my makeups... in a different and more full filling way :)

FOTD - HK inspired look

I only pick up 2 things from MAC Hello Kitty collection. Over all, I like the lip products the most! The package is cute and in good quality (finally). The accessories are nice but I just don't feel like spending $22 for a Hello Kitty purse mirror, I could probably find something cuter at Morning Glory if I really want Hello Kitty accessories.

I got the lip stick in Cute-ster(sheer peach), and lipglass in She Loves Candy(pale pink). I think they are the kind of colors I will use everyday. Some other lippies are really nice too, and I'm still debating whether or not to pick up another lipstick.

I do like the eye shadow palette in Lucky Tom, normally I would have hard time to say no to that kind of color combination, but I decided not to get it cuz I think they are very dupable and thanks to the economy I should really watch my spending now...

So I did this look inspired by Lucky Tom palette during the weekend. Using my old Well Plumed quad and the HK LS Cute-ster... My Hello Kitty look :) The purple is not as intense as the one in Lucky Tom, but I think it turned out ok.

Crease Blending Brushes Comparison

Here is the comparison of all my crease brushes. I loooove crease brushes even tho I don't have big crease to start with, guess that's why looking for a perfect one was my mission :)

I'd divided them into 3 groups by different text color, the same color has the same function and you may only need 1 from each color group if you want to go into details. But still, you may only need just ONE from all of them if you are not as anal as me :) So here we go.

MAC 224 - I don't need to go into detail since everyone knows about this brush! This brush is way too big for my asian crease but it blends like a dream! It makes the blending job suuuuper easy and it actually helps cut down my makeup time. I used it clean to blend out the harsh line instead of using it to place crease color.

Sonia Kashuk round crease - This is the old version so I'm not sure if its still available. This is only slightly smaller than 224 but does the same job. The handle is a bit flimsy so I think that affects the blendibility? still, just need to swipe a few more times and it does the job beautifully.

MAC 226 - It's very pointed and it's a bit firmer than the 224. It's good for defined crease work and blend at the same time. It fits Asian lids perfectly I will say.

Sephora Round crease #13 - This does exactly same job as 226 to me, and it's actually softer than 226. In the picture it doesn't look that pointed but it actually is. I carry this one in my makeup bag everyday for touch up. I like it just equally as 226!

MAC 222 - I will say this one is in between Black and Red group. It's small enough to go into my crease to place the color and it's good for blending as well. It's extremely soft and I love how it feels against my skin.

Coastal Scents small crease brush - This one is equally soft to 222 and does the same job. It looks pointed but it wasn't narrow enough to do the detail job as the red group. But it blends well and for the price this is the winner!

I love all of them and they all do slightly different jobs for me. But if I could only choose one..... I would probably pick 222.

Just my personal preferences :)

NARS Skin Deep palette Look/Weekend FOTD

So it's MAC Hello Kitty event tonight, you all excited? Be honest I am not super excited about this collection cuz I was never the biggest Hello Kitty fan(guess I will go insane if they have MAC Betty Boops collection :P) Anyhow, as a collector I will still pick up a couple things. Maybe a lipglass or something... oh, and I actually think the black Hello Kitty mirror is very cute :)

I used my NARS Skin Deep palette for a super natural look for work yesterday. I figured I went a bit too makeup crazy at work recently. Ever since I start blogging, I just put on more and more colors on my face everyday... you all have the same problems? Or maybe it's just me :) So here is an almost nothing, super natural look for a change...

I used this palette for the whole look, the colors are super neutral you really can't go over board with it. I had All About Eve on lids and highlights, Blondie on crease for a very clean look. I really like the blushes in this palette. I had Ninotchika(discontinued) as contour and Zen on my cheeks, they work wonderfully together as "nude" blushes on my skin tone, very subtle and natural. I also had Bambi on my lips, a nice brownish nude.
And here is the look I did on the weekend. I was playing with Stars N' Rockets es that I just bought(yeah like I need another purplish/pinkish es). It's a purplish pink(not pinkish purple) with blue sheen, I am actually glad that the color is very sheer so it works on top of other shadows. It's a bit like Cream de Violet but more pinkish and with the blue pearl sheen, loooooove it!

Yay! It's finally Friday, what a long week... Little Jacob's birthday is coming up (Valentine's day), so me and hubby are planning to have his first bday at this Taiwanese Tea House called Oz cafe. Remember when I was pregnant, we constantly visited Oz's cafe cuz I had craving for bubble tea and shabu-shabu all the time. And it was also the first restaurant he visited after he's born :) Yay, OZ... I'm expecting to have a great party and taking lots of pix for him!

Makeup wise, I'm on a orange kick... I've been doing lots of orange/copper looks lately, I know it's getting boring :P I used MAC Coppering here. This is the color I didn't think I would like cuz it's so intense and lots of red undertone, but with lots of blending I ended up liking it alot!

Working with Blackground & F21 goodies

My look today is mainly to test my new Blackground Paint Pot. I've seen so many great looks with Blackground p/p but I wasn't sure this is a must have in my collection. After seeing lollipop26's post I decided to give it a try :)

Black color base supposed to add intensity and depth to any color you use on top, depends on how much black added, u create multiple brownish gradient by mixing black with orange, so the color appears richer...

I used the orange from Well Plum quad from forever ago. The orange color in this quad has very bad color payoff so I can really see if the P/P does its work.

The color definitely looks more intense on top of Blackground P/P, and it gave a nice smoky kick to the look. But... the texture of this baby really sucks, unlike other P/Ps, it requires lots of blending otherwise it shows up patchy and uneven.

Overall, I like the effect but it does require more works, and sometime you lose the true color by adding too much black or blending too much. I had Sable on top of too much Blackground P/P yesterday, it lost the warm plumy tone and looks more grayish like Satin Taupe... I could just use Satin Taupe instead...

Still, I'm happy to add this to my P/P collection. The effect and versatility worth the extra works imo, great for night time or smoky looks!

I also have some F21 goodies to share! I've been very easy on cloth shopping for awhile since I still have 12 lbs. pregnancy weight on me, ugh...:( I should definitely work on that before I buy more clothes... Anyway, I got these long sleeve shirt and hats that I thought will work with what I have easily... and I like the bold belt that can make a statement with some simple long shirts and dresses.

Now me, hubby and little Jacob all have the same style shirts :)

Here is my Chinese New Years Eve look on Sunday. We invited couple friends to our house and had Chinese hotpot at home. I totally forgot about taking some pix cuz I was too busy eating, and too exhausted from being home cooking whole day.

I was gonna do the typical red and gold look, like Chinese dancing lion but it didn't turn out the way I would like. Should have used the red from Mi'lady wet but I was lazy to do it, and no matter how much I tried to pack it on it was just not red enough. It looks more like copper, so lets call it a gold and copper CNY look :)

Some MAC Goodies...

I admire Michelle Obabma. She's beautiful inside and out and she's such a supported wife and great mother... she is the role model for all women and she likes MAC cosmetics :) But I am not fond of her inauguration gown, by Taiwanese fashion designer Jason Wu, oh...no... OH NO! It looks like a one shouldered bridal gown to me!

My MAC haul is here. Some from ff sale and some I randomly picked up recently.

168- I always want it but it is not a absolute necessary cuz I love my MAC129 too much. Still it is nice to have when I want some changes.

224- I once had it and returned it, didn't like it before cuz I don't have enough eye space for this fat crease brush. but boy was I wrong. The blendability of this brush is awesome!

Sable and Beauty Marked ES- Sable is my new fond love, a nice shimmery plum brown that looks so natural on me. I always want Beauty Marked but heard it is very hard to work with... finally got it! I haven't tried it yet but it looks so gorgeous in the pan!

Lip condition spf 15- It tastes and smells like vanilla cream, very moisturizing, love to use it before sleep.

Soft Wave and Peroxide lipgloss- Soft Wave is LOVE... it's a brownish frosty color that looks so natural on me, very pretty bronzy nude! Peroxide is light milky pink that goes on sheer, look nice on top of any lipstick.

Hue lipstick- Peachy pinkish nude, good to tone down pigmented lips. However I'm a sucker for pinkish nude lipsticks and I do like this one alot. Similar to Pretty Please but with a touch of peach and more wearable.

Fix +- My old one is running low. Love this stuff, should have got 2.

Yeah...Kim Kardashian is so YUMMY!!! I don't follow her TV show but I do love her makeup and style(Check out her latest makeup HERE). Regardless of her talent, her body is to die for! Me and hubby watched her porn with Ray J the other day, she was sooooo freaking hot, even tho it's a home video she still appear tasteful and not trashy(I think) She's incredibly sexy that me want to slap her butt too!!!

I broke down and got my free makeups today! I wasn't gonna go cuz the crowd and long line, but seeing so many friends and bloggers' hauls... I finally went after work to the MACY'S that close by my house to get some. The line was insane but it moved fast and thank god it wasn't that cold today. I got Clinique Moisture Surge since mine is almost running out, and also got the Advanced Night Repair that I've been wanting to try... 2 items only but I am contained :)

I went pick up my ViVi subscription at my local Taiwanese book store last weekend and saw the new Queen magazine(beauty bible) arrived so I also pick that up. I've subscribed the Taiwanese ViVi for quite some time and I'm getting a bit tired of it. It was my all time favorite fashion magazine since years ago and I used to buy the JP version here and there before and enjoyed every single page of it..... maybe I am older now and I prefer simpler clothes, the clothing style became all too similar in every issue to me, but I still enjoy reading their makeup section alot. I love Queen magazine, this is the first in depth beauty magazine that's completely Taiwanese style. It is seasonal issue so you have to wait 3 months for a new one and each issue is so big and so satisfying! This issue has a few exciting dramatic party looks, tricks to elongate your eyes for office and night time looks... go pick it up if you can, highly recommend it :)))

I love that purple look... definitely wanna try it some time :)

Belated Smokey Palette Look

My MAC ff haul finally arrived yesterday. It took them 12 days to ship and there is still something missing in my box. I'll wait til I got my missing order then I will post my haul... they are just some essential anyway :)

I got the Holiday smokey palette in the swap last week and I've been using it for past few days. I had all the dupes in my regular palettes so I didn't want to spend money on this. This palette is so freaking useful and freaking boring that I love it so much! I thrown this in my makeup bag and did my make up on the train in the morning for work. This palette is all I need... its so damn useful that makes me mad!!!

#1 as brow highlight, #2(Satin Taupe) all over the lid, #3(Espresso dupe) as brow color and outer crease. #4 at tear duct and lower lashline high light, #5(Carbon) at outer v.

So boring, I know. but I looooove this palette :)

Had a day off today and here is a look that I did... dark pink that I don't usually do since it is not office friendly. I think I won't mind to wear more fun look on daily basis if I can work from home... yeah, wearing makeup sitting at home is fun :) I ended up just staying home playing with little Jacob today cuz it was snowing like crazy when we were ready to step outside...

I used my NARS Caravaggio duo(Azaela pink and irredicent purple). The pink looks scary but it wasn't that bad when apply. I like the burgundy purple on the right alot. I don't think MAC has any purple like that. I had Swish on inner half of my lid, the dark pink in the duo on outer half and the purple in the duo on outer v and crease, Naked Lunch at inner corner and brow highlight. Feline as liner, True Romantic blush on my cheeks, NARS Laguna bronzer and Albatross as highlight(HG! HG!) On my lips I had NARS Turkish Delight on top of Cream d'nude.

And I added a valuable member in my MAC neutral family -- Sable. I always talk myself out not to get anymore browns since I already have too many. But, this really is a beautiful plum brown! Can't believe I missed it all this time...
Sable all over the lid, Softbrown on crease and Carbon on outer v, Ricepaper at inner corner and brow highlight.

When come to skin care products, I have no brand loyalty. I will try anything that works under the sun. Yeah, mama is getting old and it is not funny... don't know, maybe one day I will be willing to go under the knife and needle if I am desperate enough?

I have dry/combination skin, I don't break out often and I seldom need to touch up during the day that's how dry I am. So the most important thing for me is hydration, then the anti aging comes second . Unlike most girls in Taiwan, I'm not into whitening products since I always like myself tanner, so less products for me to worry about when come to skin care. But the hardest thing for me is to keep my skin smooth and lines free.... the dry lines + wrinkles annoy the hell out of me :(((

Here I would like to share a few products that I've been using lately and having fair results.

Klein-Becker StriVectin-SD Eye Cream
I've been using this eye cream for almost a year. The best I've ever tried so far and I did try lot in the past. It's very hydrated and fast absorbing. I did find the fine line around my eye area less visible as long as I use this day and night. StriVectin-SD is famous for their stretch mark product and their eye cream has similar ingredient. I like the tube packaging cuz you can really control the amount you need and no need to dip your finger in the product every time you use it. I've been using my first tube for almost a year and I still have some left. Over all I am satisfied with it and I will purchase again when I run out.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
I was never a big fan of the Clinique but this stuff is the SHIT. I'd used 2 bottles of these in the past and I don't plan to stop. It's gel like texture and smells fresh and clean, very hydrated and light on skin, it is especially good for the summer time. My skin is so dry so I do still put on another layer of moisturizer after this during the winter. Sometime I put on a thick layer as over night mask, I wake up next day with baby butt soft skin.

L'Occitane Immortelle Very Precious Cream
Love this anti aging cream. It says night cream on the package but I use it day and night. It contains the essential oil of immortelle flowers that suppose to boosts collagen synthesis, stimulates circulation, and enhances cell renewal... I found the immortelle flowers scent very refreshing. The texture is kindda thick but not greasy. I'd finished a bottle and found the expression line on my forehead and around my mouth soften a bit. I might purchase it again in the future.

I took the advantage on the holiday set and got the Shiseido Bio-Performance Advanced Super Revitalizer Cream during the Christmas. I'd heard so many people raved about this cream and finally decided to give it a try. So far, I like it alot. It's an all in one cream that hydrate, protect skin from agressive environment and has antioxidant to help prevent fine line. The smell reminds me of old lady's facial cream, but it doesn't bother me. I also got a small sample from Sephora's beauty insider sample, the Bio-Performance Super Restoring Cream. It's heavier than the Revitalizer Cream and it is target for the more aging and damage skin. I'd used it all up and I like the Revitalizer Cream better.

One more thing that is not really considered skincare but I wanna mention here... is the Lip Fusion Collagen Lip Plump. I was so happy that I got another 2 from ebay for around $18-$22 each, much better than the original $38 price tag. These are my fave lip products lately. I can care less about the color but this is the best lip treatment IMO. I use the clear one every day and night to moisturize my winter dry peeling lips and having great results, my lips are much smoother and fuller everyday. Definitely my HG!

MAC BBR, brush #226

How do you like the MAC BBR collection? I mentioned I was going to get the new 214 brush before but after seeing it in person, I changed my mind. The tip of the bristle is not thick and stiff enough as the regular smudge brush imo. Unlike the ones from NARS and Sephora, it is basically just the top half of the MAC 239 in black bristle. Although it is a bit firmer, I can just use the 239 to do the job. The Redhead msf looks so pretty but I didn't get it in the end... lesson learned. I was a MSFs collector before but I slowly sold or swapped away most of my msfs cuz they were just eye candy for me sitting in the bottom of the drawer untouched. To me they are too frosty as highlighter and not pigmented enough as blush... I ended up only keep the ones that I can use as bronzer.

The only thing I got from this collection was the 226 pointed blending brush. I'm a sucker for crease brush of course can't resist this one. The 226 is very pointed, the size is smaller than 224 and 222, it actually reminds me of 219 pencil brush but softer. I don't have 219 so this will be good for detail works. I will do a comparison of all my crease brushes later.

Kat Von D Palette FOTD

This weekend we took little Jacob to the doctor cuz his running nose didn't get better and he start to cough some . He's too little and doctor usually don't prescribe any medicine for the head cold but we still took him to the doctor just to make sure it is not a flu. Poor baby is so congested and blowing bubbles from his nose...

Here are some shots we took the other night. Little Jacob was so miserable and cranky cus his cold and I was trying to make him going to sleep. We took some pictures and he was amazed by the blinking light on my camera. He loves taking pictures :)

I used this palette the day when we too Jacob to the doctor. Kat Von D Beethoven palette by Sephora. I haven't used it for quite awhile and almost forgot how pretty this palette is. The shadows are quite silky and the color payoff are quite good. There are 8 colors, from matte to glittery, from brow color to highlight... a great all in one palette. I really like the #5, a shimmery muted mauve plum, and #3, a glittery cool tone dark purple. #1 is just like Ricepaper and #4 is a dupe of Mac Espresso, good for my brow.

I used #1-5 for the look(#5 all over the lid, #2 on crease, #3 on outer v, #4 as brow color and #1 as brow highlight). NARS Honolulu Honey on my lips and So Ceylon MSF on cheeks.

I went on MAC website and wtf... a lot of the brushes are sold out! I guess now is the best time to pick up the expensive brushes since MAC don't usually have the sale like this. Anyway I did pick up 168, 224 and 208. Also pick up a holiday palette for a gf as birthday gift. Too bad the sale is only til today and there is one brush that I really want will release tomorrow on their site, from the Brunette Blonde Redhead collection. This baby-- MAC 214.

Finally MAC has a smudge brush like this, I hope it is not LE. Guess I will just pick it up in the store later.

Little man Jacob start crawling in army style since couple months ago. He just recently start standing up by himself by holding on something. Everytime he does that he will break into a big smile. Hopefully he will start walking pretty soon, I can't wait to chase him around in the house :)

Also did anyone watch Nip/Tuck? I was so excited the new season is back on FX. It's my favorite tv show EVER and I love their new sound track from Kanye West. I didn't know that Breast Cancer does happen to men as well, poor Christian... that also reminded me its time to do mammogram, I def drink too much coffee and diet coke, start living healthier is also in my New Year resolutions. I know I can't totally cut them off but I can at least drink less and drink more green tea instead!
Got to go get the whole season and have Nip/Tuck Marathon sometime :)

Here is a collective haul from last week. I'm obsess with Lip Fusion now. I don't have thin lips so don't really care about the lip plumping effect but let me tell you, this is the most moisturizing lip stuff , better than any lip balm I've ever used. I put it on like 5 mins before I put on the LS or LG. It smooths the fine line and makes your lips look and feel smooth and juicy, no kidding! It's quite pricy($38) but worth every penny. I got the one in Sweet, a sheer baby pink. I will probably hunt down more on ebay since they sell it alot cheaper there. I also got NARS Honolulu Honey LS, it's beige nude color that's similar to MAC Freckle Tone but better coverage, more on the brownish, orange side but it looks totally natural on me.
I have to say I can rock nude lipstick much better now because of Lip Fusion. It makes my lips look so much smoother and fuller. I looooooove it!

Since I always want this pair of gold metallic high top Converse, I finally broke down and got them this weekend. And guess what, Yellow Rat Buster has buy one get one half price sale and I found another pair that I loved but they didn't have my size before. The black high top with NYC subway map, the 20 Century project LE. I was so happy I got both of them and I got them both for about $92. I became a collector of Converse ever since I was pregnant, I have totally 8 pairs now :)
Also found some cute things at Urban Outfitter sales bin, the little Spiderman and the newsboy hat. They are $10 each. Isn't that Spiderman cute...

I am sorry to say but anyone like me think the MAC Dame Edna package is hideous? The red glittery sticker on the pastel purple package? come on MAC! This is not from the professional design team, this is from your kid's craft room. Last time they did shrink wrap on Fafi, and now they do this sticker thing and the sticker is not even well made. The color swatches are pretty but I've been turn off by MAC's LE package so many times and it is getting worse. The good thing is I'm finally done with MAC LE, I'm not into collecting LE anymore and that save my whole lots of money :)

So here it is... the look this morning using my brand new NARS 9947 holiday palette.

I love this palette! you can easily use all the colors to create different looks. I've been wanting to get Himalayas since I first got into NARS but never did. It looks white but it has pink duo chrome once you apply, sort of like MAC Pink Opal, or Nano Gold es. Night Flight looks blue but it applys just like your regular shimmery black. I've heard so many people rave about Ondine, a shimmery plum brown. I do like it but don't find it too special since I can easily find a dupe from my MAC neutrals. Bohemian Gold is a pretty peachy orange, it's like more pigmented orgasm blush in ES form. Surabaya is a rich redish brown and I like it on the crease. Kilimanjaro is light gold that makes your eyes pop. Over all I think this palette is a good buy that you got all the pretty colors from NARS that's special enough. Some poeple think there are too many shimmery colors and lack of the basics, like a matte brown or or more tone down highlight color, but I really don't mind :)
I used Ondine all over the lid, Surabaya on crease with a little touch of Night Flight on outer v. Himalayas as brow highlight and Kilimanjaro on my inner corner. I had Luster on my cheeks and Chihuaha lipgloss on lips.

I am wearing this T-shirt that I got from F21. Its cute with Chococat on it, and it reminds me of my hubby :)
He saw me wear it the other day and he was like "what does that mean? it's a nerdy cat and it is black? Are you making fun of me?" lol... yeah, hubby is cute and nerdy and I love him. He is smart and always study, I am proud of him :)

The other look I did wearing the same shirt. I had MAC Gorgeaus Gold on lid, Rule on crease and Bronze on outer crease. Hope every one had a great New Years Eve! I'm determine to follow my new year resolutions! Have a great year everyone...

NARS Charade FOTD

So this morning I ran through all the excuses I can come up with in my head tried not going to work, and it didn't work. I still came to work, very late. It's so hard to come back after Christmas break... but it will be another short week, and it's New Years Eve gain! I have no plan for the NYE. Count down in Time Square is not my thing. I rather just stay at somewhere cozy... have a glass of wine or beer, and watching people go crazy on TV :)

Here is the look that I did for work today. Maybe a lazy pissed off look? lol... doing makeup for work is a much more joyful thing than going to work itself, even through I can't really do too much. Just using my neutral palettes makes me happy. I have tons and tons of neutrals and only me can tell the differences... so here is another neutral for today. Using NARS Charade(muted mauve/smokey plum) It's not your brownish neutral but it's neutral enough since they are very muted. I love this duo! it looks kindd blah in the pan but it accentuate your eye without putting on much color. And you can just add little dark brown or black at the outer crease for the evening look.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! I had a great one... it was full of gift opening (for my little man), lots of shopping and of course I ate too much holiday sweets! Well... I usually don't worry about anything until after New Years. So for now lets just enjoy the time we have... the sweeter the better!

Here are some family holiday pics to share. Little Jacob and hubby were opening their gifts. Christmas eve was hubby's birthday and we also celebrated his birthday with his family on Christmas day. 2 boys had terrific time!

Christmas day I was trying to play with some of my old MAC. I was in the hurry so just did a quick look and nothing too dramatic. I used MAC Goldmine and Cranberry on my eyes. MAC Other Worldly blush on my cheeks. God, I really love that blush it's LE and I always forget to use it . In my opinion it is one of the best blush MAC had ever made... especially for warm tone girls. If you love bronzy look, this is the blush you def need to track down and get a back up or 2 if you can find it. I used NARS Sandpiper on my lips. I am really into NARS lipglosses lately. After using NARS glosses for awhile, MAC glosses became too sticky for me. I do plan to swap most of my MAC glosses away and only keep some LE ones.

This is today's look. Boxing day we went shopping and try to exchange hubby's new coat. I got him a Ralph Lauran winter coat for his birthday which was too small. I had my hat on and purple makeup. yeah can't you tell how much I love purple...

Here is what I got for Christmas from hubby...

A Tiffany charm locket bracelet with Jacob's initial and MAC134. I was super excited. I've been wanting to get MAC134... I think I have all the MAC brushes that I want now. I initially wanted the snow flake charm bracelet but the charm was kinda big and it was just not very me so I exchanged for the locket with Jacob's initial which I really love! I also got the Converse Gold leather high top from hubby, too. But he ordered the wrong size so we sent it back. I'm just greatful to have the things I want and I hope he truly loves the gifts I pick up for him as well.

on the side note. Sephora is having a big sell online starting Dec 25th. Some holiday sets have good mark down and lots of Vincent Longo stuff are 50% off. I finally broke down and got this today--NARS 2008 Holiday Palette

I got it for $45, not much a sell but well, NARS, what can I do with you... the colors are just really pretty and I can see myself make good use of it. I will do a review after I receive it.

Makeup Removers & Weekend look

This Saturday we went to a Christmas potluck party at a friend's house. It was snowing like crazy but we still managed to drove about 30 mins to get there. I forgot the camera so there is no pics to share. It's Jacob's first Christmas and he seem to enjoy the cold weather alot. He made funny noise when he's expose in the cold air, it made me smile every time he did that.

I ran out of my makeup remover so I went to the JAS Mart(a Japanese supermarket in NYC) to pick up some during the weekend. I am not a big Japanese cosmetics fan. the reason why is the color payoff is always a disappointment and I am not a sucker for fancy packages either. I'm always attracted to slick and professional packages. But I do have to admit that the JP product lines always have the better skincares and makeup accesories, things like makeup removers, masks and cotton cleaning pads... are few of my favorites.

My number 1 favorite makeup removers is--

Biore Make-up Remover Perfect Oil

I stock up on this when I went back to Taiwan. This was really popular back then everyone was using it. It has the consistency of oil but it is not oily if that makes sense. You can just use this like facial cleanser with your hand wet and all the makeups will come off completely and your face feels soft and clean, and you don't need to use the facial cleanser again. I don't use eye makeup removers cuz I don't like to constantly rob my eyes and I'm just to lazy for the extra step, so this is a real live saver! I'd used bottles and bottles of this and finally ran out. I decided to give other brands a try. But I'll def. stock this up again on my next trip back to Taiwan.

KOSE Softymo Deep Cleansing Oil

This thing does its job, but you do need to 1. use it with dry hand and 2. clean with facial cleanser afterward. But it does take off the makeup pretty well! This one is emphasized in deep cleaning it supposes to helps remove old skin and helps treat blotched skin, freckles, and even pimples. I think I did notice a little brighter complexion after using it for awhile.

MANDOM Cleansing Express Agecare (Q10)

This is the popular one everybody was raving about! I happened to grab the last bottle on the shelf at JAS mart, lucky me :) This one is very watery but it IS an express product! I don't use cotton pad, I just use it as facial cleanser and gently rob my whole face with this, it takes off the makeup fast and don't need cleanser afterward.

Over all I will say they all works very well compare with some of the US products I have ever tried. I just hope that some US manufacture can come up with the makeup remover like these... as we have to pay more for these babies and we go through them like crazy. I can get Biore Make-up Remover Perfect Oil for about $7 in Taiwan and they sell it for $14 here, bleh :(

Holiday Cool Eyes Palette Look

Here is a look for work this morning, using the MAC Cool Holiday palette. As I suspected I wasn't so thrill about this palette... the purple and pink in this palette are not as bright as last years Cool palette but all the colors coordinate with each other pretty well so you can still do lots of looks out of it. It's just a more tone down and work appropriate type of colors so don't expect to get a wow effect as some of them don't have real good color pay off. But over all this is a very easy to use palette to throw into your makeup bag.

Infatuating Rose 6 cool eyes

I used the 3 colors on the right yesterday but forgot to take pictures. The top one is like Cream de Violet and the middle one is like more dusty version of Parfait Amor. Both color pay off suck... but I do still like the silvery purple. Today I used the 3 colors on the left #3 is my favorite, it's a medium berry color that goes on sheer.

My Nars came yesterday! It only took about 3 days. It came in a small regular tan packing box which I think MAC should do the same cuz that black little box looks slick but its def attract attention. and it just makes me worry that someone will steal it when the UPS throw it in front of my house. Yeah, I took advantage of MAC 25% Holiday discount and got the Cool Palette. I wasn't going to get any of the MAC holiday stuff since I really think the package is cute but crappy and the colors are all dupable. I did a look with Stage Beauty this morning. I am glad I pick this one, it's a freebie but it will definitely be a valuable member in my NARS collection. It's very neutral, good for work everyday. It looks like Shroom and Texture on me. Shroom all over, texture on the crease and outer lid. You can't go wrong with MAC classic and Stage Beauty is just the same.

It's such a easy quick look for work. And I want to say I am really loving my HyperReal foundation... it's glowing and moisturizing, good for my super dry winter skin.

It takes some time to take the photo and posting the pictures but I think I start to get the hang of it. Yeah! there will be more to come.

Here is a look that I'd done during the weekend. I thought I will share before it disappear from my camera. I kindda like Urban Decay Deluxe palette. These are the only UD shadows that I own. I don't do bright colors very often but the colors in this palette are just gorgeous. I will say Honey is the most gorgeous gold and yes it is more gorgeous than MAC gorgeous gold! I should def. make more use of this palette.

It was a very relax weekend... we didn't do much since hubby has to prepare for his new job. It's always been busy and alot of running around on the weekend so I was really enjoying to be a home buddy :)

Yeah, I absolutely loooooooove NARS(who doesn't!) I gave in and order from NARS website, they are giving away a free ES duo as holiday gift when purchase over $60(and free shipping) Yay!!!

I pick up Stage Beauty. It's a neutral combo with pale gold and sheer copper. Belly Dance is a nice one too but I figure I'll get more use of the neutral and from my experience NARS ES are hit and miss. And their Neutral ES have better color pay off!

I purchased the 3-Piece Duo Lip Gloss Set($48). BEAUTIFUL color --

Boogie Nights/Giza, Rose Birman/Chihuahua and Harlow/Sweet Dreams. I believe they are only available on NARS website, so grab them while you can!!!

Also pick up my favorite NARS cool tone blush "Sin". A purplish berry shade. I had that color before from Sin/Casino blush bronzer duo. I swap them away cuz Casino was way too dark for me as bronzer. Now I finally got myself Sin in full size!!! Can't wait to get them...

So yeah, that's my little haul for myself. Can't resist the holiday deals ;p I still neeeeeed to find the Christmas gift for hubby. His birthday fall on the Christmas eve, so yeah, got to get double surprises and make him happy!!!! I got the Bday gift done. shhhhhh... now just one more and I am up gift hunting on the internet when everybody is sleeping.

Little Man Jacob

so I have this blog for a while and finally decided to post some stuff... I've been reading some cool blogs here and that inspired me to do my own(even tho I already have one in Chinese). It is actually easier for me to type in English but do excuse my sometimes crappy English since I am not a native speaker :P I will try to keep this blog going despite my busy schedule. I remember how much fun it was when I used to blog... so here it is let me introduce the most important person in my life. my little man. Little Jacob!

He is now 10-month old baby I know I know he looks like 2 year old toddler. He loves to laugh and talk... he is still learning how to crawl but he can dry swim everywhere in the living room :)))

I will dedicate this blog for beauty, fashion, and my family, and maybe a little bit of everything! Stay tune... be back soon!
